The Fraud One of the most anticipated days of the year had arrived at the offices of BradParksBooks.com: the crack design team at St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Books had sent the final version of the cover for Brad's next book, THE FRAUD.

The interns were huddled around a computer screen, commenting on its virtues and general cool factor.

Well, correction. Most of the interns were there. As for Zach, the silly intern...

"What's that, the title of your autobiography?" Zach said from the far corner of the room, then pressed a button on his phone that played a rim shot sound.

Then came, "How come they put the author's name on the cover twice?"

This was accompanied by a "zinnnnggg!"

Next was, "But so were the first five books!"

He punctuated this with a sad trombone sound.

Sarah, the smart intern, walked over and asked, "Okay, Zach, I'll bite, what are you doing?"

"I'm practicing so I can get Brad prepared," Zach said, earnestly.

"Prepared for what?"

"For the heckling he's going to get on book tour," Zach said. "I mean, the name of the book is THE FRAUD. Don't you think that just kind of tees it up for people?"

"Yeahifyouarereallyimmature," Sarah muttered.

"What?"

"I said, 'Yeah, you're right, I'm sure,'" Sarah clarified.

"Yeah, me too. I mean, especially with some of those library crowds. They get testy when the waiting list for the new book gets too long. They always take it out on the author. That's why Brad has to be girded for battle. I figure if I can anticipate all the potential insults ahead of time, he can come up with the appropriate putdowns in response. Now if you'll excuse me..."

Zach played a noise that sounded like a whoopee cushion and howled, "I guess it takes one to write about one."

Ahem.

There are also other, perhaps slightly more relevant, preparations underway for the launch of THE FRAUD, the sixth Carter Ross thriller, on July 8, 2015. The manuscript has been copy edited, proofread and is primed to head off to the printer. Brad is primping for a new headshot, because the one with the turtleneck and the scary scowl has gotten old (the current Brad smiles more but has less hair).

In addition, the Fifty Shades of Khaki Tour is in serious planning stages. Details should be forthcoming in the next newsletter and we hope you can make plans to see him.

After all, Brad is always happy to see his readers on the road.

Whether you heckle him or not.

Tauntingly Yours,
The BradParksBooks.com Interns
